A successful and extremely high profile customer focussed logistics solution company with national presence is seeking a Transport Operations Manager as part of their business growth. Based in their Head Office in Birmingham, you will be responsible for the creation, growth, development and profitability of the newly formed division.

Working 0900-1700 Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will receive 5 weeks annual leave rising to 6, bonus and amazing pension scheme.

This role requires someone who has solid experience in creating new business opportunities, transport planning and managing sub-contractors who can effectively utilise their own 'black book' of industry contacts. This is a challenging and exciting role for someone who is able to provide cost efficient transport solutions to ensure maximum benefit to the company and their customers. The successful Transport Operations Manager will be managing a new venture for a financially secure company that operates a 'family run culture'.

As the Transport Operations Manager your duties will include:

  • Manage all transport and operational activities
  • Experienced customer / client relationships and subcontractor management
  • Must be able to demonstrate previous experience of delivering substantial cost savings as well as delivering against challenging KPIs and SLA
  • Gain new businesses and expand existing business with customers
  • Maintain effective communication and provide a high level of service
  • Provide regular update reports to senior management
  • Ensuring all relevant legislation is complied with

To be a successful Transport Operations Manager, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience managing 3PL contracts within a Logistics environment
  • Transport planning knowledge
  • Experience in managing subcontractors
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels
  • Solid Customer relationship building skills
  • Continuous improvement in operational performance
  • Strong organisational skills for planning schedules, journeys and loads
  • Good leadership and motivational skills
  • Excellent understanding of transport regulations

The Transport Operations Manager will be working from 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday to Friday but flexibility is required.

In return, the Transport Operations Manager will receive a salary between £40,000 - £45,000 (dependent on experience) plus 5 weeks holiday rising to 6 weeks after 3 years in service and bonus. This is a chance to put your own stamp on the new division and make it your own.
